4th gen Skoda Superb to launch in India in 2025 as a full import?

Skoda Superb fans in India have something exciting to look forward to in 2025! The 4th generation Skoda Superb is set to make its debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. This time, however, there’s a twist: the car will be launched as a full import.

Skoda Superb: What to Expect?

The new Superb, which debuted globally in late 2023, brings a fresh look with Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. The sleek exterior features angular, sharply drawn lines, and a mix of traditional Skoda cues. Inside, the Superb gets smart dial controls and a 13-inch infotainment screen, similar to the second-gen Kodiaq.

Under the hood, the Superb is expected to offer a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with either 204 hp or 265 hp. There’s also a possibility of a diesel engine option. However, unlike previous models, the new Superb will be sold as a fully imported unit in India.

Why CBU?

The decision to import the Superb comes after the production facility was shifted from Kvasiny, Czechia, to the Volkswagen Group’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Bratislava plant can only produce complete vehicles, making local assembly unfeasible. This means the Superb will be more expensive than its locally assembled predecessors.

Despite the higher price tag, Skoda is confident that the new Superb will attract buyers with its advanced features and stylish design. The car will undergo ADAS calibration for Indian conditions, adding to the costs but ensuring better performance. It will go up against the newly launched Toyota Camry. However, we expect the Superb to be priced much higher.

The Volkswagen group is undergoing a financial crisis which has forced them to change the manufacturing strategy. However, bringing the Superb as a CBU instead of a CKD will put a toll on the buyers’ wallet. Even with a higher price tag, the Superb will have takers who are loyal to the brand and fans of the Superb. We expect Skoda to bring the car here in limited numbers only.
