It looks like Royal Enfield is going all-out researching new models and working hard to get them on the road. Images of what appears to be a street bike based on the new 450cc platform have leaked online.
Royal Enfield 450cc street bike
We know that the Himalayan would be the first bike to use the updated 450cc liquid-cooled engine. But the new spied bike is a naked roadster based on the same platform.
Not much information is revealed from its minimal bodywork, but few of the details are identifiable. It gets an almost upright stance for the rider and a slight bend at the knees to reach out for the pedals. The tank curves to merge with the single-piece seat. The bike gets an all-LED setup all around. The front indicators look lifted from the Himalayan while the rear are housed in the tail lamp cluster itself.
As the bike is using a new engine, the chassis, too, can be an all-new design made specifically for this powertrain. The exhaust also appears to be an all-new design. The stubby end can looks similar to the Hunter 350.
In terms of suspension, the rear gets a mono-shock unit. A telescopic shock absorber handles the front duty. Additionally, the swingarm too sports an all-new design.
In terms of wheels, the bike was equipped with similar-sized units on both ends. They were of cast alloy make. These are shod in Ceat tyres. Both ends get disk brakes, and ABS rings can be clearly visible.
The bike was equipped with a luggage-ready setup, including a rear base plate and saddle stay on both sides. This means that Royal Enfield could be offering these as official accessories at the time of launch.
Launch timeline of the Royal Enfield 450cc street bike
That said, this bike appears to be an early prototype version judging by the shared parts from the other bikes. Even the overall fit and finish seems to be rough. Hence the launch could be a while away.
