400 HP Audi RS3 revealed

Audi has revealed the 2022 Audi RS3 in both sedan and Sportback forms. The brand has announced that the second generation RS3 sedan and the third-generation RS3 Sportback will be available to order in the European market starting in mid‑July 2021. Both the RS3 models will make their market debut in fall of 2021. Audi has revealed that the RS 3 Sportback will be priced starting from EUR 60,000 MSRP, and the Audi RS3 sedan will come with a starting price of EUR 62,000 MSRP. 

2022 Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback – Design Highlights

The Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback come with a sharp front fascia featuring Audi single-frame grille in black finish. The trough grille integrates well with the front apron and the headlamp clusters. Flanking the grille are large air intakes that aid the thermodynamic efficiency of both engine and brakes. The sedan features a ‘high tail – low nose design and comes with a lip spoiler on the boot lid. The Sportback comes with a progressive roofline that slopes into the rear deck. The rear apron features a mesh design on the bumper and twin oval tailpipes finished in black. 

2022 Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback – Exterior Features

The Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback come with wedge-shaped LED headlights and taillights. The brand also offers Matrix headlights as an option, but dynamic turn indicators are standard. The RS3 models also come with flared wheel arches with an additional air outlet on the front. The brand has also widened the front axle by 33mm. The RS3 also come with 19-inch cast wheels in a 10-Y spoke design as standard. Optionally a 5-Y spoke wheel design with RS branding is also available. Also available as an option are Pirelli P Zero “Trofeo R” performance semi-slick tyres. 

2022 Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback – Colour Option

The brand is offering the RS3 models in two exclusive RS colours – Kyalami green and Kemora grey. The brand offers a Brilliant Black roof and grille either in a matte or high-gloss finish. The rocker panel inlays and mirror caps are also available in a carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer. The brand also features an Alu-Optic Trim package with accentuated front bumper, diffuser insert, and window trim. 

2022 Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback – Interior Features 

The 2022 Audi RS3 models come with RS accentuated interiors and 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus as standard. The display also comes with an “RS Runway” design for the RPM, a bar graph with percentages for power and torque, g‑forces, lap times and acceleration from 0‑100 kmph, 0-200 kmph, quarter-mile, and eighth of a mile.

The RS3 models also come with an RS-specific blinking shift indicator in manual transmission mode. The car also comes with a 10.1-inch touch display referred to as “RS Monitor,” and displays coolant, engine, and transmission oil temperatures as well as tyre pressures. The RS3 also features a carbon fibre instrument panel and RS sport seats. Also standard is a flat-bottomed three‑spoke RS Sport multifunctional leather steering wheel and die-cast zinc shift paddles. 

2022 Audi RS3 Sedan and Sportback – Engine Specifications

Powering the Audi RS3 is a 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The engine produces 400 Hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. The motor features a unique 1‑2‑4‑5-3 ignition sequence creating sonorous performance. The engine sends power to the wheels using a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox allowing a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed of the RS3 is limited to 250 kmph, but an optional upgrade unlocks the speed limit to 280 kmph. With the RS Dynamic package, the top speed can also be increased to 290 kmph.

But the piece de resistance is the RS Torque Splitter and specific RS 3 modes. The RS Torque splitter can direct all of the power to only one of the rear wheels. The new technology can send up to 1750 Nm of torque per wheel. The Audi RS3 models also come with RS sports suspension as standard with adaptive damper control as an option.
