Honda has unveiled the all-new HR-V in the European market known as the Vezel in other international markets. The Honda HR-V comes with a new e: HEV Hybrid powertrain, a new design philosophy that is now in-line with the recent Honda models, significantly improved interiors and retains the class-leading space on the inside. With the new e: HEV powertrain Honda reinforces its commitment towards electrifying its mainstream models in Europe by 2022.
Powering the Honda HR-V will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with e: HEV hybrid technology that helps deliver 203 Hp of power and 380 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to come with a CVT gearbox and the two electric motors with the on-board battery will enable the compact SUV to run in pure electric mode for short distances. The SUV is likely to come with an all-wheel drivetrain.
On the outside, the Honda HR-V features sleek LED headlamps, a horizontally slated grille that integrates into the front apron, clamshell style bonnet design, coupe-esque roofline, a sharply rakes rear windscreen, C-pillar mounted rear doors, a shark fin antenna and wraparound taillamps. The Honda HR-V also comes with large twin-split-spoke alloy wheels.
On the inside, the Honda HR-V features best-in-class space thanks to the intelligent packaging of the hybrid motor and the battery pack and offers maximum comfort for four adults. The interiors also come with contemporary styling and soft touch materials. The interiors feature a minimalist approach with horizontal air vents for the HVAC, rotary knobs, a free floating touchscreen infotainment system, control mounted three point steering wheel, a new air diffusion system and Magic Seats that offer both ‘fold-flat’ or ‘flip-up’ seat flexibility.
The all-new HR-V e:HEV will be available in Europe in late 2021. The brand has not announced any plans to launch the HR-V in the Indian market, however, the SUV will come to the ASEAN market following its launch in Europe.
