Hero MotoCorp’s product portfolio in India maxes out at 200cc in the Indian market with the XPulse 200, XPulse 200T and Xtreme 200S. However, with the sub-400cc segment of bikes seeing significant growth lately, Hero wants to join the party as well. To tap into the segment and diversify its portfolio, Hero MotoCorp will launch two new 300cc motorcycles. These will be the 300cc versions of the XPulse, XPulse T, and Xtreme S. Spy shots of the XPulse 300 and Xtreme 300S surfaced online recently. And now, we have new spy shots which show the XPulse 300T as well as more details of the other two.
The three motorcycle test mules show that Hero will continue with the same formula and offer a faired sports bike, an ADV and an ADV tourer. All of them will use a new 300cc engine which will be a big step-up from the 200cc engine from the XPulse 200. All three will likely have identical power & torque outputs. However, Hero could tune them differently. The XPulse 300 and XPulse 300T will use a trellis frame which will be a first for the brand. Hero’s Dakar Rally bike, the 450RR, uses a trellis frame, but that’s not a production motorcycle.
From what we can see, the XPulse 300 will have a bigger headlamp cowl, raised front fender, robust engine guard, and sleek rearview mirrors. Like the 200cc XPulse and Xtreme, it will continue to use a fully-digital instrument cluster. However, it will likely be larger and offer more information. We can also see the XPulse 300 using wire-spoke wheels which are likely to be 21-inch in the front and 17-inch at the rear. It gets front and rear disc brakes, and Dual-Channel ABS could be standard. We can also see the bike using long-travel USD forks at the front. At the rear, it will get a long-travel monoshock. On the other hand, the XPulse 300T gets different styling.
The sportiest option of the lot, the Xtreme 300S, will feature similar styling to the Xtreme 200S. The bike gets a low-set handlebar, rear-set footpegs, alloy wheels, and front-cowl mounted rearview mirrors. Unlike the XPulse 300, the Xtreme 300S will get 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension & brakes are likely to be similar to the XPulse 300. However, the Xtreme 300S will have a lot less wheel travel and stiffer damping.
