Harley-Davidson wants to expand horizons. The American two-wheeler manufacturer, primarily known for making high capacity cruiser bikes is now looking at new segments to appeal to a wider buyer audience globally. Just like luxury car manufacturers have adopted new product designs, similarly even Harley-Davidson is planning to introduce bikes which were never a part of their showrooms till date.
A growth plan which will see new bike launches till 2022, will include a new adventure tourer, an electric motorcycle, a streetfighter model, a new custom bike, lighter e-bikes and smaller entry-level motorcycles for emerging markets. It is clearly mentioned that Harley-Davidson is planning to launch new 250cc-500cc motorcycles for the emerging markets like in Asia, and for sure, these would make it to India, or will be Made-in-India. Harley-Davidson just like KTM & BMW Motorrad could look for a local Indian manufacturer for such a low-capacity high volumes motorcycle manufacturing for better economies of scale.
Harley-Davidson wants to have motorcycles at different price points, different engine power capacities, different riding styles and for different needs of the global market.
