The latest spy shots that have emerged online, showcase a Thruxton 400 test bike being tested in Pune. The upcoming Thruxton 400 model looks production-ready as it is seen using the finalized parts and specs.
The closely taken high-quality shots showcase that the Thruxton 400 will get a committed riding position; similar to the bigger Thruxton 1200 bikes. It also gets the iconic fairing with a round headlight and USD forks, that make it appear like a proper baby Thruxton 1200 RR.
Another interesting design change is the rear end of the bike which has a different LED taillight than the Speed 400. The brushed aluminium pillion grab rail also adds to the unique identity of its design.
Moreover, to give it a proper retro cafe racer outlook, the test bike has bar-end mirrors and a rear seat cowl fitted on. The engine casing and the lower half of the bike use rubber-coated parts that are similar to the Speed 400.
Powering the Thruxton 400 is the same engine as on the Speed 400. The 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine produces 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm of peak power and torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch.
In terms of features, it will get a semi-digital instrument console taken from the Speed 400. It supports Bluetooth connectivity and embeds features like a gear indicator, tachometer, speedometer, fuel efficiency, SMS/call alerts, and more.
As far as the launch timeline goes, we are expecting it to debut in the coming months as the test bike suggests that it is production-ready. Additionally, it will be positioned slightly above the Speed 400, thus, the price expectations for it are around Rs 2.5-2.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
As of now, there is no direct rival to the upcoming Thruxton 400 but if we consider the cafe racer category, it will become an affordable option to the Royal Enfield GT650.
