Skoda has announced that its upcoming SUV, the Kylaq will make its world debut on the 6th November 2024. Expect the Kylaq to come with an aggressive pricing, which will help it compete in the highly contested sub-4 meter SUV segment which includes the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Tata Nexon. To price the Kylaq aggressively, the brand is likely to share its parts with other Skoda SUVs such as the Kushaq to keep the price in check.
Now reports reveal that the Skoda Kylaq will be built on the MQB-Ao-IN platform which also underpins the Kushaq and Slavia in the Indian market, but come with smaller wheelbase length. While the Kushaq comes with a 2651mm wheelbase, the Kylaq is likely to come with a 2566mm of wheelbase. This makes the Kylaq more compact than the Kushaq, which translates to lesser interior space. However, reports suggest that the space on the inside is likely to be comfortable for both city use as well as for road trips.
Reports also suggest that the Skoda Kylaq test mule had interior parts from the Kushaq such as the steering wheel, air conditioning controls, touchscreen infotainment as well as the driver’s instruments cluster. Furthermore, the Kylaq is also expected to come with a single-pane sunroof, AC vents for the rear seat passengers, ample boot space and multiple mobile phone charging points including a wireless phone charger. Reports reveal that in addition to the rear AC vents the Kylaq also comes with folding armrest for rear passengers.
Skoda announced that the Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque matched to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Kylaq will also come standard with over 25 active and passive safety features. This includes 6 airbags, ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Disc Wiping, traction and stability control, Roll Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Passenger airbag de-activation, Multi Collision Braking, ISOFIX seats and more.
