2025 Renault Duster SUV spotted testing in India, Duster fans rejoice

Automotive enthusiasts in India have a reason to celebrate as the 2025 Renault Duster was recently spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. The heavily camouflaged prototype was seen in Kerala, signaling Renault’s efforts to bring back one of its most recognized models.

New-Gen Renault Duster

The new-gen Duster is based on Renault’s CMF-B platform and is expected to launch in November 2025. This marks a significant comeback for the Duster, which was discontinued in India last year due to poor demand. The original Duster, launched in 2013, was the first C-segment mid-size SUV in India and was known for its rugged build and versatility.

What to Expect?

The upcoming Duster retains the signature ruggedness of its predecessor, featuring sleek LED headlamps integrated with Y-shaped DRLs, boxy wheel arches, and vertical air vents in the front. The SUV also boasts roof rails, 17/18-inch alloy wheels, and plastic cladding on the lower half of the vehicle. Inside, the Renault Duster offers a driver-centric cockpit with a 7-inch instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment system.

Expected Launch?

Renault has announced that the new Duster will be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. Initially, only the 5-seater version will be launched, with the 7-seater variant expected to arrive in 2026. The India-spec Duster is likely to be offered only with a petrol engine, focusing on affordability and practicality.

The reintroduction of the Duster is expected to be a game-changer for Renault, as it aims to revive a well-known brand name that once resonated with SUV enthusiasts. The new Duster will compete against popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder.

Renault’s current lineup has faced challenges in gaining traction, with models like the Kwid, Kiger, and Triber underperforming in terms of sales. The re-entry of the Duster is crucial for Renault’s strategy in India, as it aims to bridge the gap in its portfolio and offer a competitive edge in the compact SUV segment. Will this also mark the return of the Nissan Terrano? Well, we will soon find out.
