MG’s popular Astor may not have struck the strings in the Indian market as compared to its rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, etc. While the Astor does come with a subtle design, much appreciated by gentleman’s around India and abroad, the design though timeless is due for an update. According to reports, MG is likely to be in the process of upgrading the Astor SUV.
MG Astor – Design
Design patents of the upcoming Astor have emerged on the internet ahead of its launch. According to reports, MG Astor which retails as the ZS in the European market is likely to come with a comprehensive update. The patents reveal that the Astor is likely to come with a new fascia but the light signatures are likely to remain similar to the current model. However, the bumper is likely to be completely new and the grille is also likely to come with a new wider and taller intake area.
MG is also likely to offer a trough pattern on the grille instead of the diamond studded design seen on the current Astor. The large MG logo on the front has also disappeared from the grille centre and is likely to be added later on. The bonnet bulge lines appear similar to the current Astor but the crease lines on the side are likely to come with a new design. The rear of the new SUV also appears to be sportier than before and the faux exhaust ends are also likely to be retained.
MG Astor – Expected Features
Interior details of the new-generation Astor are currently scarce. Also, what is likely to be offered under the hood remains to be seen. However, the Astor is likely to be armed to its teeth when it comes to features. The brand is also likely to offer Level 2 ADAS features on higher spec models as well as 6-airbags as standard safety kit. Also, expect a large AVN and digital driver’s instruments with the new ZS/Astor.
