The new model of Elevate in Japan is called the Black Style version, and it is offered only on the top two trims – Z and Z+. The new update has added piano black treatment on the different exterior parts, while the cabin has also received identical changes.

On the outside, the body cladding, ORVMs, door handles, shark fin antenna, and 17-inch alloy wheels are offered with a piano black gloss colour. Customers can choose any body colour option along with the blacked-out elements. This change has made the Elevate more sporty and stylish.

To match the exterior black highlights, the cabin now gets black leather on the dashboard, black door pad leather, piano black AC vent garnish, and piano black center armrest leather. However, the Japanese-spec car does not get the leather seats and the ambient light system that the Indian-spec model gets.

Powering the Elevate is the robust and durable 1.5-litre i-Vtec petrol engine that is used on the Indian-spec model as well. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox option in Japan. The launch price of the Black Style version in Japan is approximately Rs 14.67 lakh.

The Elevate is Honda’s bet on the popular mid-size SUV segment in India. It made its global debut in India, but the sales volume is not at par with the company’s expectations. In fact, Elevate is selling more in the Japanese market than in India.

Our verdict

The Black Style version is merely a styling update that has a possibility of launching in India later. However, Honda has already added a completely blacked-out version to Elevate’s portfolio, which is priced at Rs 15.51 lakh.
