2024 Tata Xenon X2 4×4 spotted testing

Tata could be planning to bring back the Xenon pick up truck in the Indian market. The dual cab lifestyle model was sold in the Indian market before it was discontinued to a commercial status and then discontinued for private use. But now, our hopes have risen again as a test mule of the Xenon has been spotted testing on public roads in India. However, this could be an export only model with some updates for the international market. Tata could just be testing the updated Xenon on Indian roads and may not bring the vehicle for us here in India.

Tata Xenon X2 4×4 – Spyshots

According to spyshots, the test mule of the Tata Xenon features a new X2 badge. When Tata sold the Xenon in India the pickup truck came with an XT badge. Spyshots also reveal a new 4×4 badge on the new Xenon leading us to believe that the model will come with a four-wheel-drivetrain. However, the Limited Slip Differential (LSD) sticker which used to be on the side of the bed is now missing. Either the brand is not offering the LSD or it does not want to boast about it, we think it’s the latter. The Xenon 4×4 is also expected to come with an electronic switch to engage the 4×4 hi and 4×4 low ratio gearbox.

Tata Xenon X2 4×4 – Will it be sold in India?

In the past Tata sold the Xenon with two engine options – a 2.2-litre DiCoR and a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel unit. However, the commercial variant – Tata Yodha only gets the 2.2-litre version. The engine is also likely to be BS6 compliant as the brand exports the Xenon to the international markets such as Europe, Australia, South Africa, Latin America and the ASEAN contries. However, the life style pickup truck is not likely to roam our streets until the market matures for such cars in India.
