The Tata Punch EV has been in development for quite some time now. Tata has finally opened bookings for the Punch.EV at a price of ₹21,000/-. The launch date and price of the new EV has not been confirmed yet. The Punch.EV has been built on an all-new architecture dubbed as acti.EV.
acti.ev is Tata.EV’s first pure EV architecture. The acronym stands for Advanced Connected Tech – Intelligent Electric Vehicle Architecture. The Punch.EV and upcoming Tata.EV vehicles will be based on the same platform. Tata.EV will launch 5 products on this platform in the next 18 months. The architecture is made up of four layers, the powertrain which now supports FWD, RWD and AWD, the chassis which can support multiple body styles and sizes, the electrical architecture which can support ADAS level 2 and V2L & V2V charging and finally the cloud architecture which will support the Arcade.EV app suite.
Though the Punch.EV is based on the new acti.ev platform, the body style (chassis) will be shared with the petrol Punch. However, in terms of styling, there are quite a few changes. The car has a refreshed look and we can see a lot of elements inspired by the Nexon EV. It gets the connected LED DRL on the front, flanked by LED projector headlamps. We expect it to get LED taillamps as well with a connected LED at the rear like the Nexon.EV.
Inside, there will be the new 10.25-inch display for the infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital cockpit on the higher variants. New features include a 360-view camera, leatherette seats, EPB, etc.
