Written by Kanad Kalasur

The upcoming Renault Duster has been seen on European roads under test. The camouflaged test car, however, reveals a few details. Primarily the new Duster appears to be pretty similar to the Dacia Bigster Concept displayed back in 2021.

What’s new in the upcoming Renault Duster?

The first major change is the new platform. The SUV is now based on the CMF-B architecture compared to the outgoing car’s B0 platform. Thanks to this, the new Duster could get a lot more features. Further, the car has also grown in size. It appears bigger than the previous generation model.

Some of the visual features of the SUV include slim headlamps, a full-width LED light bar, wider air intakes, squared-off wheel arches, wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, alloy wheels and rear door handles mounted on C-pillar. The rear gets distinct tail lamps along with a unique spoiler.

On the inside, we can expect features like automatic climate control, a big touchscreen infotainment system, and a high quality audio system. The 3rd-gen duster is also likely to get modern connectivity features. Renault could also offer a host of safety features like 6 airbags and ADAS suite amongst others.

3rd-gen Renault Duster : Powertrain details

Thanks to the new platform, the upcoming Duster is likely to support both ICE and hybrid powertrains. This means, apart from the regular petrol / diesel engine, the SUV will also get a plug-in hybrid and a mild-hybrid option. All-wheel drive options could also make its way to the SUV in the higher spec.

Renault Duster in India

The Renault Duster was a pioneer in its segment. Infact, it created the mid-size SUV segment in India and the first generation car was a market success. However, it could not sustain and slowly was discontinued. Infact, today, the Duster will have competition with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun to name a few.
