Suzuki recently introduced the Swift in the international market and speculation is that the Indian arm of the Japanese manufacturer will also launch the popular hatchback soon in the Indian market. Closer to the end of last year we also saw a couple of fully camouflaged test mules in India just after the brand revealed the new model in Tokyo.
Now, the compact sedan model based on the Swift – the Swift Dzire has been spotted testing. It appears that Maruti is winter testing the compact sedan in Kufri and Narkanda areas of the Himachal Pradesh which are infamous for their extreme weather and treacherous terrain. Manufacturers often choose such sites to benchmark their products and to evaluate how they fare against natural elements.
According to spy shots, the new Swift Dzire is likely to be similar to the Swift. However, the new Dzire is also likely to come with a sunroof. Presently the Swift in the international markets does not come with a sunroof. However, the demand for features especially sunroof is pretty high in India and therefore the brand could be planning to offer one in the Indian market.
In addition to the sunroof, the brand is also likely to offer the Swift Dzire with a floating 9-inch touchscreen and a digital multi information display for the driver. Furthermore, the new Dzire will also come with automatic climate control. Maruti Suzuki is also likely to offer the car with 360-degree camera and Level1 ADAS, which is likely to become a new safety norm. Internationally, the Swift comes with ADAS tech.
Powering the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is likely to be the same Z12E engine. The newly-developed 1.2-litre engine produces 82 Hp of power and 108 Nm of torque. The petrol engine also comes with a mild-hybrid option and is coupled to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti Suzuki is also likely to offer a CNG-powered version soon after the launch of the Swift Dzire.
