The Mahindra Thar Armada, the 5-door version of the very successful Thar is all set to launch on Aug 15 this year. Recently, multiple Armadas were spotted testing. These are likely the different variants the car will be offered in.
The spy shots reveal three distinct variants of the upcoming SUV. Let’s take a look at them.
Thar Armada Variants:
The base variant can be seen with steel wheels. Clearly, the alloys are reserved for the higher variants. It also misses out on the rear washer and wiper. The mid-spec variant does get alloys and rear wash-wipe however, the spare wheel is a steel wheel. Unlike the base which has all five wheels painted in silver, the spare wheel of the mid-spec is painted black. The top spec that will also get all the bells and whistles, gets alloys but in a different design. The top-spec’s spare wheel is also a 5-spoke alloy like its other four wheels.

Interior
An interior shot also reveals a new infotainment display like the one of the XUV 400 EL Pro. The steering wheel is also new and is similar to the Scorpio N and XUV 700. The Thar Armada will also get front and rear armrests along with rear AC vents. Since the Thar Armada will not get a soft top variant, it will get a single pane sunroof. The roof mounted speakers have been retained from the three-door Thar. Besides, the boot space in the Armada will be far better than its 3-door sibling.
Powertrain
The Thar Armada is expected to get the same 2.2L diesel and 2.0 L petrol powertrains with manual and automatic options. However, we expect Mahindra to tinker with the tuning as this will be a much heavier SUV. At launch, the Armada will come with 4X4 as standard. RWD variants might get introduced later.
