Mahindra is planning to introduce the popular Thar SUV in a new 5-door avatar. The brand has been extensively testing the product on Indian roads for quite some time now. However, new details on its interiors as well as exterior features have now emerged on the internet.
According to spy shots the new Mahindra Thar 5-door will come with new design 19-inch dual tone machine-cut alloy wheels and subtle changes to the exteriors. The brand is likely to add differentiating features such as a more prominent front grille and new-design LED DRLs. The headlamp on the top-spec model is also likely to be an LED unit. The Thar 5-door is also likely to come with LED fog lamps as well. In addition to this, the 5-door Thar is also likely to get a sunroof adding to its list of features.
On the inside, the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is likely to come with a bench seat on the rear. The seat is likely to comfortably accommodate three adults and consist of a folding armrest in the centre. In addition to this, the Thar 5-door is likely to come with a refreshed dashboard with a floating infotainment touchscreen which is likely to be a 10.25-inch unit. The existing model features a 7-inch touchscreen. The instruments cluster is likely to be shared with the XUV700 which comes with a full digital cluster.
The SUV is also likely to come with push-button Start/Stop and push button fuel door release. In addition to this, the new 5-door Thar is also likely to come with enhanced safety features. Spyshots reveal front parking sensors and speculation is that the SUV is also likely to come with a 360-degree camera system. Furthermore, the Thar is also likely to come with airbag integrated in the front seats.
Mahindra is likely to offer the 5-door Thar with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engine options. However, the performance of the engine is likely to be tweaked to squeeze more performance.
