The Kia Seltos has been a popular choice in the compact SUV market. It shares its platform and powertrains with the Hyundai Creta. This is the best-selling model in this segment. Kia is now giving the Seltos a facelift in India, with some differences compared to the global version.
What Are The Changes We Can See?
The facelifted Seltos will have changes in the rear design and interior specifically for the Indian market. The recent test mules spotted in India belong to the lower-tier trim levels. These are namely the HTK and HTK+ trims. These trims are receiving significant updates in terms of features.
The HTK trim, which is one level above the base HTE trim, will now come with front parking sensors and a fully digital instrument console. These features were not available in the previous model. We might also get additional feature additions, such as a rear washer and wiper, but it’s not confirmed yet. Even the top-spec X Line trim in the outgoing model did not have a fully digital instrument cluster. However, the facelifted Seltos HTK trim will come equipped with this feature. The centre console will also have a new button to control the front parking sensors. The infotainment screen remains an 8″ unit with smartphone connectivity. And the HVAC panel with rear AC vents remains unchanged.
Changes We Can See In The HTK+ Trim
The HTK+ trim has always been known for offering great value for money. This will now receive even more updates. It will include all the features mentioned for the HTK trim and automatic climate control. However, this is not dual-zone climate control like the one available in the top-spec trims. The HVAC panel design remains the same as in the outgoing model.
The HTK+ trim already comes with a host of features. This includes cruise control, push-button start, alloy wheels, and various other amenities. With the facelift, Kia has added a fully digital instrument screen and automatic climate control. Thus, making it an even more attractive option for buyers. It’s worth mentioning that electronic parking brakes will only come for the top trims only.
Engines To Remain Unchanged
The engine options will remain unchanged. Thus we will get the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, the 1.5L diesel engine, and the new 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The latter will provide more power and torque, making it a welcome addition to the lineup. Overall, the Kia Seltos facelift brings several enhancements to the lower-tier HTK and HTK+ trims, offering more features and value for buyers in the compact SUV segment.
