Kia is set to launch its popular luxury MPV, the Carnival Limousine in the Indian market. The brand has successfully retailed the Carnival before in India, and building on its success, the brand plans to bring the next-generation Carnival Limousine next month. Kia India has already started pre-bookings for the Carnival Limousine with a minimum booking amount of INR 2 lakh and the company in 24 hours received more than 1,800 bookings.
While the Kia Carnival Limousine comes with multiple powertrain options abroad, reports reveal that Kia India is likely to bring only one powertrain for the new Carnival Limousine in India. Furthermore, the company will be bringing the Carnival Limousine only with a diesel engine variant and expect it to come with only an automatic transmission option. Now this could be the 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel unit that produces 193 Hp of power and 441 Nm of peak torque. The new engine is likely to be 7 Hp less powerful than the predecessor which was sold in India, but also gets a bump of 1 Nm in torque. Also reports reveal that the engine is likely to come with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
While the engine maybe similar to the one that was sold here before, the exterior and interior of the new Carnival Limousine gets a complete revamp. The Carnival Limousine features a completely new and futuristic design. The luxury MPV comes with LED headlamps and taillamps along with a connected lightbar on the rear. Apart from this, reports also reveal that the Carnival Limousine will also be sold with only two colour options here in the Indian market – Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black.
Expect the Kia Carnival Limousine to be priced at around the INR 50 lakh mark. The Carnival Limousine does not have a direct competitor, but it positions itself between the Toyota Innova Hycross and the Toyota Vellfire in the Indian market.
