The Shanghai Auto Show has been a massive hit. We got to see some of the wildest automotive displays in the world. The news from Hyundai is the much coveted Elantra N that debuted in China at Shanghai Auto Show ahead of its global launch. Once launched, it will take on the other hot sedans in the market. This includes the likes of the Honda Civic Si, Volkswagen Jetta GLI and more. As of now, pricing and powertrain figures are not yet out.
What Is The Design Like?
At the front, we see a brand-new fascia. The sedan benefits from multiple cuts and creases making it look quite attractive. We also see the front bumper lip get red highlights. Thus amplifying the drama and sporty flair. These red elements neatly flow along its sporty side skirts and neatly integrate into the rear. We also see subtle N badges in these red elements too. The side profile is mostly the same save for a new set of 19” alloy wheels with N badging instead of Hyundai’s. At the rear, the most highlighting feature is the ‘H’ shaped connecting LED tail lights. This has been carried over from regular Elantra. Hyundai Elantra N also benefits from a fixed black spoiler.
What’s On The Inside?
On the inside, we see more red elements used liberally around AC vents, dashboard and door trims. We might get to see enough red contrasting stitching and piping for seat upholstery. 2024 Elantra’s general twin-display layout remains very similar to the N model.
Mechanicals And Performace
Talking of the mechanicals Hyundai is highly likely to continue to offer a sole 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine gets performance figures as 286 BHP of power and 392 Nm of torque. As of now, Hyundai Elantra N is FWD only. Talking of electronic aid, it gets an electronic limited-slip differential.
As for gearbox options, we have a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed DCT which is likely. All thanks to these specs, the new 2024 Elantra can do a 0-100 km/h run in just 5.3 seconds. As for the India launch, it seems highly unlikely.
