BMW Motorrad has launched the new R 1300 GS in the Indian market. The motorcycle comes with a starting price of INR 20.95 lakh ex-showroom. The motorcycle is now available to order from BMW Motorrad showrooms in India. Also, we were invited to the beautiful Ladakh, the crown of India to test out the new BMW R 1300 GS. We put the BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS through its paces on the high mountain desert going both on and off-road and in one of the harshest climates in the world, to bring you a comprehensive review of the motorcycle.
Powering the BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS is a 1300cc twin-cylinder Boxer engine. The horizontally-opposed engine comes with both air and liquid cooling. The engine claims to be more symmetrical than before and produces 145 Hp of power and 149 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with an anti hopping clutch. The motor also comes with BMW Shiftcam technology which controls and vary’s the valve timing and valve stroke on the intake side.
The BMW R 1300 GS also comes with EVO Telelever suspension on the front and EVO Paralever suspension on the rear. The state-of-the-art suspension system not only offers great stability but also enhance the steering precision of the motorcycle. Also available with the R1300 GS is the optional Adaptive Height Control. The motorcycle also comes with a new sheet metal main frame made with steel. The brand claims that the new motorcycle has also saved around 12 kgs of weight as compared to its predecessor.

BMW Motorrad is offering the R 1300 GS in a total of four trims. This includes the standard in Light White Metallic as well as the Style Triple Black, Style GS Trophy and 719 Tramuntana. While the Triple Black is available in Blackstorm metallic paintwork while the GS Trophy is available in the Racing Blue metallic paintwork. BMW Motorrad also offers the 719 Tramuntana available in the Aurelius Green metallic paintwork.
The BMW R 1300 GS will be available in India as a completely built up (CBU) with deliveries commanding from the end of June 2024.
