BMW India has revealed the company’s most successful business sedan, the BMW 5-Series in India. BMW has also confirmed that the 5-Series in the Indian market will arrive in the Long Wheebase avatar. In addition to this, the all-new BMW 5-Series is also a whopping 212mm longer than the outgoing BMW 5-Series. In addition to this, the new BMW 5-Series comes with a plethora of features on the inside and a new futuristic exterior design.
The new BMW 5-Series now features a new “Sharknose” inspired BMW kidney grille. The new grille projects forwards and also functions as the visual centre of the vehicle. The grille also now features a BMW Iconic Glow on the contour line giving it a more futuristic appeal.
In addition to this, the new BMW 5-Series also comes with LED headlamps with adaptive matrix technology, including glare-free High Beam Assist BMW Selective Beam. The headlamp unit also comes with twin lamps on each side offering the signature four-eyed face, a modern interpretation of the 5-Series. The sedan also features a 2.5-box design with a steep sloping roofline on both the A-, and C-pillars. The rear also features an L-shaped LED taillamp and the number 5 embossed into the Hofmeister kink (C-Pillar).
In its latest avatar, the BMW 5-Series measures 5175mm in length, 1900, in width which is 32mm wider than the outgoing model and 1520mm in height which is 41mm more than before. The wheelbase of the 5-Series Long wheelbase is also 130mm longer at 3105mm than the predecessor.
The BMW 5-Series LWB will come armed to its teeth in features. The business sedan gets a new cockpit design with a backlit bar on the dashboard. The backlit bar looks like a piece of jewellery and integrates with the air vents. The car also comes with BMW Curved Display set which is a combination of the 12.3-inch instruments panel and 14.9-inch infotainment display powered by BMW Operating System 8.5. The car also gets BMW interaction bar and a newly designed steering wheel. The new 5-Series also comes with a full vegan interior. The car also gets a 655W Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System.
BMW has not yet revealed the engine specifications of the new 5-Series, but expect a 2.0-litre BMW Twin Power Turbo engine producing around 255 Hp of power. The brand could also offer an M Sport version of the car with a 3.0-litre BMW Twin Power Turbo straight-six engine capable of producing 375 Hp of power.
