Bajaj recently launched its biggest, most powerful Pulsar motorcycle in the Indian market – the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z. The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z comes with a street fighter design and though it uses the same engine as the Bajaj Dominar 400, the characteristics are completely different in terms of its power delivery and suspension tune. The lighter Pulsar NS400Z also come with advanced electronics and delivers nearly 85% of its torque around the 3,500 rpm. And then there is also the price. The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z comes with a price tag of INR 1.85 lakh ex-showroom.
Now we got the chance to road test the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z out in the public as well as on Bajaj’s Chakan test facility. After riding the Pulsar NS400Z for almost a full day including city traffic, ghat roads, long straight highways and the test track. We found the motorcycle to be sporty yet versatile enough for day to day commute. The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z comes leaded with features such as LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED indicators, and LED taillamps. In addition to this, the motorcycle also comes with a floating design aerodynamic tank cowl and split seats. But that’s not it, the Pulsar NS400Z also gets a full digital instruments cluster with a Multi-Info Display. The bike also features Bluetooth connectivity, Music Controls, Riding Modes, Traction Control and Off-Road mode which decreases the rear wheel ABS intervention allowing some amount of lock-up and more control to the rider.
Powering the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is a 373cc single-cylinder liquid cooled single spark engine. The engine produces 40 PS of power @ 8500 rpm and 35 Nm of torque @ 7500 rpm. The motor is matched to a 6-speed gearbox with an Assist and Slipper clutch. The motorcycle rides on upside down front fork with a champagne gold finish and a rear monoshock with preload adjustment. The bike also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels for both front and rear shod in tubeless MRF tyres. Bajaj also offers the motorcycle with a ground clearance of 165mm, saddle height of 805mm, and a wheelbase of 1343mm which is 70mm shorter than the Pulsar NS200. The bike also comes with a 12-litre fuel tank and weighs 174 kgs at the kerb.
