TVS has launched the new Apache RTR 310 in India. It is nothing but the naked sibling of the TVS Apache RR 310 motorbike. With this, the 300-400cc segment now is the most happening in India. Potential customers have a lot of choice in this price range now. Apart from the TVS Apache RTR 310, there is the Triumph Speed 400, Harley-Davidson X440, KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and more.
One might think that the TVS Apache RTR 310 is just an un-faired version of the Apache RR 310. However, that is not the case. TVS has gone all out when it comes to the design of the bike. The bike gets a sporty and aggressive form. At the front there are split LED headlamps, which give the RTR 310 an imposing look. The bike also gets a shaper looking fuel tank and tank shrouds, a dual-piece seat and a tail section that’s raised.
The handle bar consists of a single-unit tubular design and the bike has rear-set foot pegs. Compared to the aggressive posture of the Apache RR 310, the Apache RTR 310 gets a more upright rider geometry.
Towards the back, the rear end is quite tidy, and gets tyre-hugger mounted number plate and turn signals.
The new TVS Apache RTR 310 comes with an updated frame. It gets upside-down front suspension and a rear monoshock. Both these are adjustable for preload, compression and rebound.
Braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard while the wheels are 17-inches shod in dual-purpose tyres.
The bike comes packed with a host of features. One of them is the self-adjusting LED headlamp. Based on the speed of the bike, the headlamp adjusts its brightness level.
The driver gets a fully-digital instrument cluster with ability to connect to a GoPro, smartphone connectivity with call and SMS notification and more. Further, owners will be able to pick up customization options which add features like cornering ABS, cornering traction control.
In the standard configuration, the TVS Apache RTR 310 comes with traction control, ABS and cruise control. Further, except the base model, all others get a quick shifter.
The Dynamic Pro kit meanwhile comes with a climatic control seat. This seems to be a first in the world wherein the seat gets cooling and heating functions.
The Apache RTR 310 comes with the same engine as the Apache RR 310. This 312.2cc single-cylinder gets liquid cooling. It develops 35 BHP @ 9,700 rpm and 28.7 Nm @ 6,650 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed transmission. This gets a slipper and assist clutch too. TVS has claimed a top speed of 150 km/h.
The entry level model starts at INR 2.43 lakh. The quickshifter will cost you another INR 15,000 extra at INR 2.58 lakh. Meanwhile, the yellow colour option is priced at INR 2.64 lakh.
The TVS Apache RTR 310 comes with factory custom packs as well. The Dynamic kit gets adjustable suspension and TPMS along with a brass coated chain for INR 18,000. The Dynamic Pro kit gets climatic seat and IMU-based aids for INR 22,000. Hence, the top end model with all the bells and whistles will cost upwards of INR 3,00,000. All prices ex-showroom.
