TVS has finally taken the wraps off the Apache RTR 310 in India. This is a naked bike based on the existing Apache RR 310. TVS has launched the bike at a price of INR. 2.43 lakh(ex-showroom).
In terms of design, the bike gets a sporty and aggressive form. At the front there are split LED headlamps, which give the RTR 310 an imposing look. The bike also gets a shaper looking fuel tank and tank extensions, a dual-piece seat and a tail section that’s raised.
The handle bar consists of a single-unit tubular design and the bike has rear-set foot pegs. Compared to the aggressive posture of the RR 310, the RTR 310 gets a more upright rider geometry.
The new RTR 310 comes with an updated frame. It gets upside-down front suspension and a rear monoshock. Both these are adjustable for preload, compression and rebound.
Braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard while the wheels are 17-inches shod in dual-purpose tyres.
TVS has equipped the bike with a host of features. Some of these include a fully-digital instrument cluster with ability to connect to a GoPro, smartphone connectivity with call and SMS notification and more.
Safety features consist of side stand cut-off and rider modes. The bike gets a climate control seat with six axis IMU. This unit is responsible for the cornering ABS, cornering traction control and cornering cruise control.
The bike also comes with TPMS and a bi-directional quick shifter.
The RTR 310 comes with the same engine as the RR 310. This 312.2cc single-cylinder gets liquid cooling. IT develops 35 BHP @ 9,700 rpm and 28.7 Nm @ 6,650 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed transmission. This gets a slipper and assist clutch too. TVS has claimed a top speed of 150 km/h.
This new naked bike will rival the likes of KTM 390 Duke and BMW G 310 R amongst others. However, KTM is all set to unveil the latest generation of the 390 Duke in the near future.
