Triumph India has launched the 2023 Scrambler 400 X in India. The bike is available for INR 2.63 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. In terms of pricing, the bike commands a premium of INR 30,000 over the Speed 400. Let us take a look at its detailed review.
The Triumph Scrambler 400 X measures 2,154 mm long, 901 mm wide and is 1169 mm high. The wheelbase measures 1,418 mm.
Taking inspiration from the Scrambler 900 and 1200, the Scrambler 400 X is a derivative of the new 400 bikes co-developed with Bajaj. This bike will be made at Bajaj’s Chakan Plant on the outskirts of Pune.
In terms of design, the Scrambler 400 X comes with a two-piece seat. The seat height is 835 mm compared to the Speed 400’s 790 mm. The Scrambler also gets a longer travel suspension and knuckle guards on handlebars. The Scrambler ticks the scales at 185 kg, which is 9 kg more than the Speed 400.
Further, inline with its scrambler looks, the front wheel is a 19-incher while the rear measures 17 inches. Both these are shod in dual-purpose tyres with 100/90 front and 140/80 rear profiles.
The Triumph Scrambler 400 X gets ride-by-wire, all-LED lighting set-up and switchable traction control. Triumph has also equipped the bike with a semi-digital instrument cluster with relays information like dual odometers, fuel level, gear indicator and more. There is also a USB C port for mobile or accessory charging. Heated grips are also available as an accessory.
Brakes consist of bigger 320 mm discs at the front and the standard 230 mm disc at the back. Even the brake pedal is larger along with high-grip foot pegs making standing on the bike easier. For off-road riding, ABS can be switched off for better control.
Like the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X gets the same 398cc, liquid-cooled engine. This motor develops 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox with a torque assisted clutch sends the power to the rear wheel.
