Triumph is soon set to launch the most affordable range of bikes in India. Co-developed in partnership with Bajaj, one of these is the Triumph Scrambler 400 X. Here are some more details about this new bike for India.
Triumph Scrambler 400 X : More Details
The Scrambler 400 X will be made in India. In terms of looks, the bike is based on the Speed 400, but it has a few distinguishing features. The Scrambler 400 X comes with hand guards, split seats, dual-purpose tyres and a different exhaust.
In terms of dimensions, the Scrambler 400 X measures 2,117 mm in length, 825 mm in width, 1190mm in height and gets a 1,418 mm wheelbase. The seat height is set at 835 mm. The kerb weight of Scrambler 400 X is 179 kg.
Triumph has offered a host of features on the new bike. These include the likes of ride-by-wire, all-LED lighting set-up, switchable traction control and more. The rider is aided by a semi-digital instrument cluster. The information displayed here includes dual odometers, fuel level, gear indicator and more. Additionally, to keep the rider’s phone or any other accessory charged, there is a USB C port as well.
Hardware of the Triumph Speed 400
The Scrambler 400 X comes with a 43mm USD BPF front fork with 150 mm wheel travel and the rear monoshock also has 150mm wheel travel. The rear unit gets preload adjustment. The bike comes with 17-inch alloy at the back and 19-inch at the front.
Braking duties are handled by a 320mm disc with quad-piston callipers at the front. At the back, there is a 230 mm disc. Triumph offers dual-channel ABS as standard. The bike rides on Karoo Street tyres.
Powertrain of the Triumph Speed 400
Triumph offers a 398cc liquid cooled motor on the Triumph Speed 400. This engine develops 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel using a 6-speed gearbox.
