2023 Tata Punch EV spotted, Nexon EV style gear knob

Tata’s dominance in the electric vehicle category of the Indian market is quite evident. With star performers like  Nexon EV and Tiago EV, Tata Motors is doing it all in the EV space. Tata Nexon EV is currently the top-selling electric vehicle in the Indian market. Now as we understand, Tata is now looking to strengthen its electric portfolio with new product launches. We might have the Altroz EV and Punch EV very soon. Thus, the smallest SUV in Tata’s portfolio, Punch is all set to get its EV avatar. We expect Tata Motors to launch it in the festive season.

What Do We Know So Far?

New spy shots suggest that the Punch EV is in the last stage of testing. And thus there are some last moment changes happening. Unsurprisingly Punch EV could borrow the battery and motor from Tigor, which is slightly above Tiago EV. Tata’s ALFA architecture is quite versatile and comes with different drivetrains and body styles. Hence, we don’t see any problem for Tata Motors to come up with the electric version of Punch. As of now, there is no official announcement from Tata Motors about the specification of Punch EV yet.

The range of Punch EVs could hover around 250 km. The interior feature spotted now reveals that it gets the centre console of the Nexon EV with a round gear shift dial. In terms of features, we could get Auto hold, electric parking brake and wireless charging. Tata also has a habit known to offer all features possible in the EV to gain some serious attention. Thus, the centre screen seen with the new Dark edition of the Nexon EV with new software could make its way.

Subtle Changes For Tata Punch EV

Tata Punch EV will also benefit from subtle and quirky differences in exteriors and interiors compared to its standard counterpart. Some of the expected changes we assume are dual-tone exteriors and bi-arrow patterns. We would also most likely see blue accents to announce the EV credentials of the SUV. The inclusion of black alloys and rugged cladding all-around will help add up the looks. Thus bringing an extra SUV-ish stance to the vehicle. The Punch EV will face stiff competition from the MG Comet EV and most importantly, the Citroen eC3.
