2023 Suzuki GSX-R1000R sport bike revealed

Suzuki Motorcycles have revealed the 2023 iteration of its flagship GSX-R1000R litre-class for the international markets. As of now, the updated model is available in the American market but not in the European market. The 2023 Suzuki GSX-R1000R does not get any mechanical changes. However, there are some new paint schemes that help increase its appeal further. 

2023 Suzuki GSX-R1000R – What’s New?

For 2023, the GSX-R1000R comes in two new colour options. These are – Metallic Matte Black No. 2 / Glass Sparkle Black and Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Matte Stellar Blue. 

In addition to this, there is also a GSX-R1000RZ variant. This variant comes with a colour option that draws inspiration from the Team Suzuki ECSTAR MotoGP livery. Suzuki calls this colour option – Metallic Triton Blue / Metallic Mystic Mystic Silver. 

2023 Suzuki GSX-R1000R – Powertrain

When it comes to mechanicals, the 2023 GSX-R1000R remains the same as the outgoing model. Thus, it continues to use the compact 999.8cc liquid-cooled inline-four DOHC engine. The engine also features titanium valves and finger follower arms that help it achieve 14,500 rpm. 

The engine also features another trick up its sleeve – Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing System (SR-VVT). Unlike other bikemakers’ electronic VVT systems, Suzuki uses a centrifugal actuated mechanism on the intake sprocket. This helps Suzuki to increase top-end power without sacrificing low-to-mid range power. 

The GSX-R1000R also uses a cassette-style, 6-speed transmission. It also comes with Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) multi-plate, wet clutch. Additionally, it also gets Suzuki Bi-Directional Quick Shift System for clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

2023 Suzuki GSX-R1000R – Suspension & Brakes

The 2023 GSX-R1000R’s suspension and brakes are also the same as the outgoing model. Thus, it uses Showa’s Balance Free Front Fork (BFF) at the front. At the rear, the GSX-R1000R uses Showa Balance Free Rear Cushion Light (BFRC-Lite).

As for the brakes, it uses twin 320mm Brembo T-drive brake rotors at the front with Brembo radial-mount brake callipers. Meanwhile, the rear uses a 240mm disc with a Nissin single-piston calliper.
