Land Rover has launched the 2023 Velar SUV in India. The company is offering the Velar only in the top end HSE trim at INR 94.3 lakh (ex-showroom).
The current model gets some exterior changes as compared to the earlier model. These include cosmetic tweaks, new pixel LED headlamp and integrated LED DRLs, revised tail lamps and a new rear bumper.
On the inside, there are now less physical buttons. Land Rover now offers a minimalistic interior with features like a 11.4-inch curved touchscreen that can control most of the vehicle functions. The Velar is the first car from the Jaguar Land Rover stable to get the next-gen Pivi Pro infotainment. The Pivi Pro features Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto and there is wireless charging and a redesigned centre console as well.
Range Rover has also incorporated active noise cancellation technology to ensure a minimal road noise intrusion in the cabin. Also included inside is a PM 2.5 Cabin Filter and a nanoe™ X technology to tackle pathogens and reduce odours, bacteria and allergens at the same time.
Other features in the SUV include a 360-degree camera, powered front seats, heating and ventilation equipped front seats, a powered tailgate and a Meridian audio system.
The new Velar comes with two engine options. The 2.0-litre petrol motor is good for 246 BHP and 365 Nm. Meanwhile the 2.0-litre diesel engine puts out 201 BHP and 420 Nm of torque. Both are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. For the sake of comparison, the petrol powered Velar can reach a top speed of 217 km/h with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds. Meanwhile the diesel does a relaxed 8.3 seconds to the top with a claimed top speed of 210 km/h.
