2023 New Hyundai Verna testing continues on Indian streets

Test mules of the new Hyundai Verna have been spotted in Delhi and Chennai. After launching the new Tucson, and the Venue, the Korean carmaker now plans to launch the revised Hyundai Verna for the Indian market.

Hyundai Verna Design

The heavily camouflaged test mules don’t reveal many details. However, it is possible to identify some of the design elements of the sedan. The new car can be expected to come with a prominent grille, similar to the one on the Tucson and the Venue. The headlights also appear to be sharper than the outgoing model. At the back, the tail lights appear to be connected with a slim light strip like the newer Hyundais. The new Verna retains its coupe-like roofline at the back with a shark-fin antenna on top.

Powertrain options of the Hyundai Verna

In terms of engine and transmission options, Hyundai will likely offer the current crop of engines like the 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The turbo petrol will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the diesel is offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The Korean carmaker may also offer mild hybrid technology with engine start/stop and regenerative braking in this generation of the Verna.

Hyundai Verna and the Competition

It is also rumoured to get ADAS tech. This will make it the second car in the segment after Honda City to get features like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, frontal collision warning, etc. The Hyundai Verna will compete with the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

Price range of the Hyundai Verna

While Hyundai has not yet revealed the exact prices, we can assume that the car will start at an ex-showroom price of around INR 10,00,000, and higher-end versions could be priced at around INR 20,00,000.
