The much anticipated Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is here. The SUV made its global debut at Auto Expo 2023. The five-door model will most likely go on sale in India in May 2023, followed by other regions.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny Key Highlights
In addition to the robust body-on-frame construction, the Jimny gets Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD tech. As for the engine options, Maruti has opted for the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine. This motor makes 105 HP and 134 Nm of torque. This moto also gets mild-hybrid tech and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The JIMNY utilises the 4 essentials of an off-road machine – Ladder Frame Chassis, Ample Body Angles, 3-link rigid axle suspension and ALLGRIP PRO (4WD). This 4-wheel-drive tech comes with low-range transfer gear (4L mode) as well. Suzuki’s renowned ALLGRIP PRO offers the extreme off-road ability to meet the driver’s spirit of adventure. Carrying forward its strong legacy of over 50 years of global success, the JIMNY is an off-road machine built for purpose.
The Jimny comes in two trims namely, Zeta and Alpha. The Alpha trim gets all the bells and whistles. This includes automatic headlamps, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, automatic climate control and Arkamys sound system.
Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny Key Safety Features
In terms of features, Jimny gets a host of safety features. The 5-door SUV benefits from 6-airbags, Brake (LSD) Limited Slip Differential, ESP with hill hold assist hill descent control, rear-view camera, and ABS with EBD. The Jimny comes in seven colour options, two of which are dual-tone.
Maruti Suzuki 5-door Jimny Launch Timeline
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the 5-door Jimny will hit the showrooms sometime in May 2023. Bookings for the SUV are open from today and it will retail through Maruti’s Nexa dealerships. With an expected price tag of INR 12 lakh (ex-showroom), the 5-door Jimny will take on the most coveted 5-door Thar and Gurkha SUVs.
