At the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi, Indo-Japanese brand Maruti Suzuki introduced yet another SUV. The SUV has been christened Fronx which is a crossover vehicle. The crossover Fronx has been designed and developed keeping in mind the requirement of the Indian audience and road conditions. Through product clinics, Maruti Suzuki has identified two sets of buyers, one young and experimental while the other is a thoughtful and purposeful lifestyle buyer. This has led the brand to foray into a whole new futuristic and premium SUV design – the Fronx.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx features a contemporary, youthful, aerodynamic and sporty design theme. The car features a progressive roofline which ends with a full-connected LED lightbar at the rear end. The Fronx also features the NexWave grille at the front which integrates well with the crystal block LED DRLs. The front bumper is angular and integrates a three-pot headlamp. The car also gets a chrome window sill and dual tone alloy wheels. The squared-off wheel arches also bring an SUV stance to the Fronx. The Fronx also comes with a pronounced haunch and a chunky silver skid plate at the rear.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with modern and sporty interiors. This includes a dual-tone dashboard with special forged metal accents. The Fronx gets a three-point steering wheel with integrated controls and a Heads-Up Display for the driver. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx also comes with a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro infotainment system with Surround Sense powered by Arkamys. The car also gets wireless smartphone charging and in-built Suzuki Connect with 40+ intelligent connected car features. In terms of safety, the car also gets features such as hill-hold assist, Electronic Stability Programme and 6 airbags among others.
Powering the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a K-Series 1.2-litre Dual Jet, Dual VVT naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 89.73 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The engine is offered with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). As an option, the brand also offers a K-Series 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine. The engine produces 100.06 PS of power and 147.6 Nm of torque. The engine also comes with electric torque assist during acceleration and regenerative braking. The brand is offering a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission with this engine. The Fronx measures 3,995mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,550mm in height. The SUV comes with 2,520mm of wheelbase and 308 litres of boot space.
The brand is offering the crossover SUV with 8 colour options – Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Earthen Brown + Bluish Black, Opulent Red + Bluish Black, and Splendid Silver + Bluish Black.
