Kia India has officially brought in the RDE-compliant Sonet for the Indian market. The prices in India start from INR 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). When compared to the outgoing version, the updated 2023 model gets a slew of updates across the variant lineup. In this article, we will briefly go through all of them.
As for the engine options, the 1.2-litre NA petrol motor and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor both now have been updated to comply with the BS6 Phase 2 and RDE norms. Sadly, the 1.5-litre WGT diesel motor has been replaced with a 1.5-litre VGT mill. And for the gearbox option, the six-speed manual transmission replaces the six-speed iMT unit.
In the exterior design aspect, the overall design has remained pretty much the same. But, we do get some additional features. Customers will now get Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system, ISOFIX mounts for the seats and adjustable rear headrests as standard across the range. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) feature is now a standard fitment in each diesel-powered version of the sub-four metre SUV. To further spice up things there is the Kia Connect Skill for Amazon Alexa, which gives access to a range of features.
Customers can have the refreshed 2023 Sonet in HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line variants. As for the other options in this segment, there is a lot to choose from. Given the cutthroat competition in the compact SUV segment, this segment is heating up pretty fast. The other options in this segment include Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The 2023 Sonet retails in the price range of INR 7.79 lakh to INR 14.89 lakh (all prices mentioned are in the ex-showroom).
