2023 Hyundai Verna India launch confirmed for 21st March

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

The next-gen Hyundai Verna is all set to make its India debut. Hyundai has now confirmed the dates as well. We will get to see the sedan in person on March 21. Earlier this week, we got to see the first teasers of the new Verna. Internally codenamed as BN7i, Hyundai has already opened bookings. Interested customers can book their choice by paying the booking amount of INR 25,000.

New Hyundai Verna : How Does It Look?

As per the teasers revealed, we understand that the upcoming Hyundai Verna gets a completely new design. Having said so, we assume that the overall design will have its inspiration from the latest-gen Hyundai sedans. Up front, we see the sedan getting a split headlamp set-up and a full-width LED daytime running lamp. The grille too stretches to the full width of the car and the inserts look similar to the ones in Tucson’s grille. At the back, the new Verna sports a full-width LED light bar and crystal-like inserts in the tail lamps.

New Hyundai Verna : Engine Options

There’s a lot to talk about in the mechanical department as well. The next-gen Verna will get a new 1.5-litre direct injection turbo-petrol. This motor makes 160 HP. Customers can have this engine either with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. We will get to see this engine do duty in most Hyundai-Kia models in India like the Creta, Seltos and Carens, replacing the existing 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit.

The other engine on offer with the Verna is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine gets either a 6-speed manual or an IVT gearbox option. Both the engines are RDE and E20 (20 percent ethanol blend) compliant, as per the recent BS6 2.0 emission norms.

Furthermore, another headline is that Verna will not have any diesel engine option available. Thus the midsize sedan segment will become petrol-only as Verna’s rivals don’t offer a diesel engine either.

New Hyundai Verna : Pricing Details

With the fresh new updates both aesthetically and mechanically, we assume Hyundai will set up the pricing a bit. Once launched, it will take on the likes of Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
