2023 Ducati Monster SP launched in India at INR 15,95,000

Big news from the house of Ducati. It has brought in the top-spec SP variant of its famous Monster. This motorcycle retails at INR 15.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This is the SP version and costs INR 3 lakh more than the standard Monster. With more money, riders get a more track-oriented product.

What’s New With The Ducati Monster SP?

Mechanically, the biggest highlight between the regular Monster and the SP variant is in the suspension and braking setup on offer. The SP uses Ohlins NIX 30 fork and Ohlins monoshock, both fully adjustable. Meanwhile, for the braking, it gets Italian expert Brembo, with Stylema callipers held by twin 320mm discs.

Because of the change in the suspension units, the motorcycle now rides taller and has a seat height of 840mm. As a result of these changes, riders will have more cornering clearance. Noteworthy to mention that the Monster SP also comes standard with a steering damper.

The Monster SP is 2kg lighter than the standard motorcycle and weighs 186kg. This has been achieved by using a new lightened subframe, a carbon-fibre/titanium Termignoni muffler and a lithium-ion battery. The motorcycle also runs on Pirelli Rosso 4 tyres as opposed to the Rosso 3’s on the standard motorcycle.

Mechanical And Engine Highlights

Powering the Monster SP is a liquid-cooled, 937cc, L-twin motor. This makes 111 HP at 9,250rpm and 93 Nm at 6,500rpm. This engine is matched to a 6-speed gearbox coupled with a bidirectional quick-shifter. In terms of features, a full suite of electronic rider aid is on offer. This includes traction control, launch control, power modes, wheelie control, riding modes (including a new Wet riding mode) and more. In fact, riders will also get switchable dual-channel ABS, all controlled via a six-axis IMU.

Rivals Options

The Monster SP also benefits from a unique paint scheme inspired by the Ducati Desmosedici GP racebike and a colour-matched seat cowl. Once launched, the Ducati Monster SP will rival the upcoming Street Triple RS.
