Benelli has showcased its new naked roadster motorcycle – the Tornado Naked Twin 500, at the ongoing EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. The middleweight bike shared the engine with the Leoncino 500, the TRK 502 and the 502C range.
Benelli has adopted a funky design theme for the bike. The Tornado Naked Twin 500 gets a vertically oriented twin-pod headlight with a T-shaped DRL at the top. It receives a body-coloured fender, radiator shrouds, a 14-litre fuel tank, split seats and an underbelly exhaust.
The bike gets a very aggressive face in terms of the head-on view. Benelli has said that this will be the design language from now on for its future motorcycles. We can say that this look will make the bikes stand out in the crowds.
The remaining portion of the bike gets a typical setup. This includes 50 mm telescopic front forks paired with a rear mono-shock. The mono-shock is adjustable for spring preload and rebound damping. Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm discs at the front and a single 260 mm rotor at the back. Benelli has given the bike 17-inch alloys that are shod in 120/70-section front and 160/60-section rear tyres.
The 500 cc, twin-cylinder engine gets liquid cooling. It produced 47.6 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 46 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox handles transmission duties with a torque converter and slipper clutch mechanism.
The bike gets a five-inch colour TFT with Bluetooth, handlebar controls and an all-LED lighting setup.
The bike will go on sale in the second half of 2023. Initially, Benelli will offer the bike in the international markets while it could also arrive on our shores. However, Benelli has yet to reveal any launch and pricing information.
