Yamaha has announced the launch of the new MT-15 Version 2.0 in the Indian market. The 2022 Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 comes with refreshed looks and new features. The brand has also made significant changes to the chassis and suspension system. This not only reduces the unsprung weight of the motorcycle but also offers higher rigidity that converts to faster cornering speeds and stability.
The Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 comes with a starting price tag of INR 1,59,900 ex-showroom. The motorcycle is now available in four colour options – Cyan Storm, Metallic Black, Racing Blue and Ice Fluo-Vermillion. The brand also offers the MT-15 Version 2.0 with sharper and more aggressive graphics. This will further enhance the bike’s style and add a sporty character to it. Yamaha also announced that the brand has commenced accepting bookings of the new MT-15 Version 2.0 across all the authorized Yamaha dealerships.
The Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 comes with two new colour shades and new sportier graphics. The brand is offering the new Cyan Storm and Racing Blue colour option, improving the overall look of the streetfighter motorcycle. However, the most significant change on the new motorcycle is the 37mm upside-down suspension on the front.
The inverted fork system helps the bike’s unsprung weight low and also provides more rigidity as the thick outer tubes are bolted to the chassis. The brand has also replaced the box-section swingarm with a new MotoGP inspired Aluminium swingarm. The new suspension system also offers improved stability in corners and under hard braking. The motorcycle also rides on the patented Delta Box frame. This chassis provides an edge to the rider in terms of handling.
The new Yamaha MT-15 Version 2 also comes with a newly designed, full-digital LCD instruments cluster. The new dashboard displays a customizable animated text at the start and displays information such as Gear Shift, Gear Position and VVA indication. The display also offers information such as calls, E-mail and SMS Alerts.
Along with this, it also displays Smartphone battery status, which is available through the Bluetooth Enabled Y-Connect App. The Y-Connect App also offers a Revs Dashboard as well as information related to Parking Location, Fuel Consumption, Ranking, Malfunctions, and Maintenance Recommendations on the Smartphone.
Powering the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is a liquid-cooled 155cc fuel-injected engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. The 4-stroke 4-valve SOHC engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox matched to an Assist and Slip clutch for lighter actuation. The engine on the MT-15 Version 2.0 produces 18.4PS of power and 14.1 Nm of torque.
Apart from the new features, the MT-15 Version 2.0 also continues to boast features such as a Bi-Functional LED Headlight with LED position lights and a high-raised LED taillight. Braking power comes from a 282mm front and 220mm rear disc brake along with a single-channel ABS. The bike also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels with a super-wide 140mm rear radial tyre and Side Stand with Engine Cut-off Switch.
