Building on 40 years of race pedigree and a 4.8 million TVS Apache customer base, TVS Motor Compay has launched the all-new 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 160 and Apache RTR 180 motorcycles today. Both the motorcycles now come with new styling and feature updates for an uncompromised ride experience.
TVS Apache series has always been at the forefront of technology and innovation since its introduction in 2005. And it continues to set a benchmark in its segment. The previous Apache models came with multiple segment-first and segment-best features like fuel injection, ABS, Dual Channel ABS and Slipper Clutch.
The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 will be available in a total of three variants – Drum, Disc and Disc BT. Meanwhile, the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 180 will only be available in a single variant – Disc BT.
Prices start at INR 1,17,790 ex-showroom for the 2022 Apache RTR 160 Drum variant. Meanwhile, the Disc and Disc BT variant of the 2022 Apache RTR 160 retails for INR 1,21,290 and INR 1,24,590 ex-showroom, respectively. On the other hand, the bigger 180cc 2022 Apache RTR 180 Disc BT comes with a sticker price of INR 1,30,590 ex-showroom.
The 2022 Apache RTR 160 is available in a total of 5 colour options. These are – Matte Blue, Pearl White, Gloss Black, Racing Red and T-Grey. While the 2022 Apache RTR 180 is available in a total of 2 colour options – Gloss Black and Pearl White.
TVS designed the bikes as “The All-New Racer’s Choice”. Thus, both motorcycles come with new striking style elements and new attractive graphics that are in line with TVS’ racing DNA. Both also get a host of segment-leading features, such as an LED taillamp as well as an LED headlamp, which offers better visibility and light penetration.
The 2022 Apache RTR 160 & RTR 180 also come with a host of new convenient features. Both get a new advanced Bluetooth-enabled fully digital instrument cluster. It also features TVS SmartXonnect technology with Voice Assist. The 2022 Apache RTR 160 & RTR 180 now feature segment-first ride modes. TVS offers a total of three ride modes – Rain, Urban and Sport. Other new features include a gear position indicator with shift assist and TVS Connect App with a new user interface.
As far as mechanicals, TVS has bumped the power as well as reduced the weight of the two motorcycles. Thus, resulting in a better power-to-weight ratio than before. The 2022 Apache RTR 160 has lost 1 kg, and the 2022 Apache RTR 180 has lost 2 kg of weight. In addition to this, both motorcycles now also get an X-ring chain and a wider 120-section tyre at the rear for more grip.
Powering the 2022 Apache RTR 160 is a 159.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with a 5-speed gearbox. It now makes 16.04 PS of power at 8,750 rpm and 13.85 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
On the other hand, the 2022 Apache RTR 180 uses a 177.4cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine with a 5-speed gearbox. The Apache RTR 180 now produces 17.02 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
