Toyota has just introduced the all-new lifestyle pick-up truck, the much-awaited Hilux in the Indian market. The pre-bookings for the new Toyota Hilux have already commenced and enthusiasts can pre-book the SUV by visiting the nearest Toyota showroom or by logging on the official Toyota Bharat website.
Toyota has not yet revealed the price of the new Toyota Hilux for India, but the brand will bring the pick-up via the Semi Knocked Down Route to keep the prices in check. The brand is also aiming for at least 30% localisation as the Hilux utilises the Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle platform which also underpins the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner in the Indian market. The brand also revealed that the Toyota Hilux deliveries will commence in the Indian market from April 2022. Also, the Hilux will come with 5 colour options upon launch – Red, White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Super White and Grey Metallic.
The Toyota Hilux comes with a trapezoidal radiator grille with a chrome accent and sleek headlamps that flank the fascia. The SUV also comes with a rugged yet stylish skid plate and black cladding on the wheel arches. The Hilux also comes with large alloy wheels that fill up the wheel wells a large pick-up bed and LED combination taillamps. The pick-up bed also features a roll-over hoop.
On the inside, the Toyota Hilux is hardly a utilitarian, and more like a luxury SUV. The SUV features soft-touch interiors, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. The SUV will also come with leather seats with contoured features and class-leading safety features. The brand also revealed that the Toyota Hilux has achieved the full 5-stars for safety at the ASEAN NCAP.
Powering the Toyota Hilux will be a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The engine produces 204 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque on the automatic transmission option. The manual transmission Hilux comes with 204 PS and 420 Nm. The brand will also offer four-wheel drive with an automatic limited-slip differential.
