Tata Motors has just announced the launch of the 2022 Nexon EV Prime. The new Prime moniker adds a host of new features from the Nexon EV Max to the regular Nexon. Furthermore, to take the EV ownership experience to the next level, Tata will also extend these new features to over 22,000 existing Nexon EV owners. The free-of-charge software update will be available from authorised service centres from 25th July 2022. To explain all the new features, Tata will also roll out an educative programme for the customers.
The Nexon EV Prime will be available in three regular and two Dark Edition variants. Pricing starts from INR 14.99 lakh ex-showroom for the base XM variant. Meanwhile, the top-end Dark XZ+ Lux costs INR 17.50 lakh. The detailed pricing for the variants is as below –

With the introduction of the Nexon EV Prime, Tata is bringing high-end smart features to the lineup for 2022. These smart features include – Multi-Mode Regen, Automatic Brake Lamp Activation on Regen, Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS), Cruise Control, Smartwatch integrated connectivity and Charging Timeout of 110 seconds. These are not all new features. We previously saw these features in the Nexon EV Max.
Mechanically the Nexon EV Prime stays the same as before. Thus, it gets a PMSM motor that makes 129 PS of peak power and 245 Nm of peak torque. The Nexon EV Prime also gets two drive modes – Drive & Sports. As for the battery, it gets a liquid-cooled 30.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The battery pack also has an IP67 waterproof rating. Power goes to the front wheels via a single-speed transmission.
Tata claims the Nexon EV Prime is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.9 seconds. It also has a gradeability of 34 per cent. One of the new features of the Prime is the Multi-Mode regenerative braking. It offers 4 levels of regen. These are – Level 0, Level 1, Level 2, & Level 3. Level 0 turns off regen, while Level 3 offers the maximum regen. As per ARAI Certification, the Nexon EV Prime offers a range of 312 km on a single charge.
