Skoda has unveiled the new 2021 Karoq SUV in the European market. The new Karoq facelift comes with mild visual updates, new technology, more features inside the cabin, extra safety and added efficiency on the powertrain. The Skoda Karoq has been the mainstay for the Czech brand, with more than half a million sales since it made its debut in the C-SUV segment. The brand has given the Karoq the mid-life update as the SUV has been the key competitive car in the category for four years now.
The Skoda Karoq draws its new styling inspiration from the Skoda Kodiaq, going with the evolutionary approach. The Karoq features the signature double headlamp fascia and a new sharper hexagonal grille. The new grille features double vertical slats, which is the new hallmark design for new Skoda cars. The slender headlamps integrate full-LED Matrix technology and comes with a dark insert. The facelift also comes with a reprofiled front bumper with aero intakes a trough style grille.
The new Karoq comes with slimmer LED taillamps with crystalline light signature and a progressive roofline. Skoda also offers the new Karoq with 17-,18- or 19-inch alloy wheels. The alloy wheels feature an aero trim on specific models, which helps improve the efficiency of the vehicle. Skoda claims that the new Karoq SUV features air curtains, air inlets and spoiler along with the wheels allowing the car to slide through the air with ease. The brand boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.30 cd.
The Skoda Karoq comes with a new 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and remote access through MySkodaApp. The brand also offers an 8-inch instruments cluster and a 10.25-inch instruments cluster, the latter of which is optional. Skoda also offers the new Karoq with optional VarioFlex seats that enhance the interior space of the vehicle. The Karoq is also available with ADAS, including Park Assist, Trailer Assist, Crew Protect Assist, etc.
Powering the Karoq is a 1.0 TSI three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 110 PS of power. The brand also offers a 1.5 TSI four-cylinder engine producing 150 PS of power. The Karoq Sportline also comes with a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder motor producing 190 PS of power and a four-wheel drive. Diesel aficionados also get a 2.0 TDI four-cylinder diesel engine that comes in two states of tune – a 116 PS and a 150 PS.
As of now, Skoda has not revealed if the company will launch the new Karoq in the Indian market.
