2022 Royal Enfield Scram 411 details leaked before launch

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Royal Enfield is planning to expand the brand’s portfolio by exploring new segments such as the Scrambler. In the recent past, the Chennai-headquartered brand filed patents for the “Scram 411” moniker. This leads us to believe that RE could be planning to introduce a new motorcycle in the scrambler segment, evident from the name. Rendered images of the new motorcycle also emerged on the internet which lead us to believe that the Scram 411 is out of the development phase and could be production-ready. Now, more details of the upcoming scrambler motorcycle have emerged on the internet via leaked brochures that give us a glimpse of what to expect in the near future.

2022 Royal Enfield Scram 411 – Leaked Brochure

According to sources, the Royal Enfield Scram 411 will be based on the RE Himalayan. The Himalayan acts as the base for the Scram 411, sharing its powertrain and running gear. But the scrambler style motorcycle will differentiate itself thanks to the absence of the tall windscreen, the front jerry can rank, tail rack and high-mount front mudguard.

Instead, the Scram 411 appears to come with a cast metal headlamp shroud, a chopped front fender, tank cowling, reworked side panels with slots and a single-piece seat. Thanks to the changes the Scram 411 appears less intimidating than the Himalayan and also leads us to believe that it is meant for traversing the urban jungle instead of the long highway tours and trails.

2022 Royal Enfield Scram 411 – Feature Highlights

The leaked brochure also gives us a glimpse of the features that the brand will be offering on the Scram 411. The motorcycle is likely to come with an offset speedometer along with a Royal Enfield Tripper navigation pod. The motorcycle is also likely to come downsized front wheel. The Himalayan being designed to take off-roads comes with a 21-inch front wheel.

But the urban Scram 411 is likely to come with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel to make the motorcycle more manoeuvrable in city traffic. The smaller front wheel will also lower the motorcycle, which means the bike is likely to lose a little bit of ground clearance, but it also means that the Scram 411 will come with a more approachable saddle height.

Scram 411 – Launch Timeline and Competition

Earlier it was rumoured that Royal Enfield will introduce the Scram 411 in February 2022. However, sources now suggest that the launch timeline has been postponed to mid-March 2022. Upon launch, the Scram 411 will lock horns with the Yezdi Scrambler and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 in India.
