2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class luxury car revealed, bigger than ever

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2022 new C-Class sedan in the European market which will go on sale in the US market in early 2022 followed by the European market. The new Mercedes-Benz engine has been downsized but the car has grown in size and now offers more room inside the cabin. Another major step for the 2022 C-Class is the interior design and equipment which come with the new vertically oriented display adopted from the S-Class luxury sedan.

Design & Styling

On the exterior, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class features new dynamic proportions thanks to the shorter front and rear overhang and a longer wheelbase. The new bonnet now comes with sporty power domes and the passenger cell along with the windscreen which is a new “cab-backwards design”. The sedan also comes with a muscular side design with an inclined rear window that adds to the sporty persona of the new C-Class. The hallmark radiator grille has been retained and comes with a central three-pointed star. The brand has also added three new exterior paint colours to the palette which include – spectral blue, high-tech silver and opalite white.

Interior Features

On the inside, the new C-Class features a new dashboard that comes in an upper half and a lower half with a wing-like section and rounded air-conditioning vents that draw inspiration from aircraft engine nacelles. The dashboard and central display come in a six-degrees angle towards the driver for a sporty driver-oriented cockpit. The driver’s display comes with a freestanding high-resolution LCD screen in two choices a 10.25-inch or a 12.3-inch. The central infotainment display also comes in two choices a 9.5-inch screen as standard or an optional 11.9-inch. The infotainment screen features the latest Hey Mercedes MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) voice assistant system compatible with home appliances.

Powertrain

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is available with both Petrol and Diesel powertrains and a 9G-Tronic Automatic Gearbox now standard across the board. Powering the C 180 is a 1.5-litre petrol motor with a 48V mild-hybrid system that helps produce 170 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque along with 20 hp of power boost and 200 Nm of torque boost from the ISG system. The C 200 and C 200 4Matic come in the 204 Hp/300Nm state of tune. Powering the C 300 and the C 300 4Matic is a 258 Hp/400Nm petrol motor with a 48-Volt mild-hybrid ISG system. In the diesel avatar, the C 220d comes with a 2.0-litre 200Hp/440 Nm motor with a 48-Volt mild-hybrid power unit and the C 300d produces 265 Hp of power and 550 Nm of torque.
