The 2022 C-Class will come in three variants, namely, C200, C220d and the range-topping C300d. The former two will be available in the Avantgarde line. On the other hand, the latter will only be available in a more sporty AMG-Line. The pricing for the C-Class starts at INR 55 lakh ex-showroom for the C200. The 2022 C-Class will get one petrol engine and one diesel engine in two different states of tune. The entry point to the C-Class lineup, C200, gets a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The new petrol motor produces a peak power of 204 HP and 300 Nm of torque. The new 1.5-litre unit replaces the 2.0-litre petrol from the previous model.
The two diesel variants use the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel. However, both variants use different states of tune. The C200d produces 200 HP and 440 Nm, while the C300d produces 265 HP and 550 Nm of torque.
New to the lineup is the inclusion of a new 48V mild-hybrid technology. In addition to this, it also features an integrated starter generator. The ISG provides an additional 20 HP of power and up to 200 Nm torque. As for the transmission, all three variants use a 9-speed torque converter automatic.
The claimed fuel efficiency figure for the C200 is 16.9 kmpl. At the same time, the C200d will return 23 kmpl, making it Mercedes’ most fuel-efficient car in India.
The all-new C-Class gets a new dashboard and air-conditioning vents. Taking centre stage is the S-Class inspired portrait touchscreen infotainment system. It measures 11.9-inch in size and uses the latest MBUX voice-assistance system. The digital instrument cluster measures 12.3-inch in size and draws inspiration from the S-Class. The luxury sedan also gets a new steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls. The new generation C-Class is 6.5cm longer and has a 2.5cm longer wheelbase for additional interior space.
