Powering the XL6 is the next-generation 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K-Series engine. The new naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with progressive Smart Hybrid technology comes with 102 PS of power and 136.8 Nm of torque. The brand offers the new XL6 with a 5-speed manual and an all-new 6-speed torque converter automatic. The new MPV also comes with steering-mounted paddle shifters. Maruti Suzuki claims that the XL6 returns a fuel efficiency of 20.97 kmpl for the manual and 20.27 kmpl for the automatic gearbox.
On the other hand, the Kia Carens come with a 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol engine that makes 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque. A 1.4-litre Smartstream turbo-petrol engine that produces 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque. For diesel aficionados, the MPV also comes with a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT turbocharged diesel engine that produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The brand offers a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DCT transmission options.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 measures 4,445mm, in length, 1,775mm in width, 1,755mm in height, and 2,740mm in wheelbase. The XL6 MPV comes with 16-inch alloy wheels. The Kia Carens MPV measures 4,540mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,708mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,780mm. The Carens MPV comes with a ground clearance of 195mm and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with four airbags that include driver+co-driver front and driver+co-driver side airbags as standard. The MPV also comes with Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist (HHA), reverse parking sensors, and second-row ISOFIX anchors as standard. The XL6 also gets safety features like a 360-degree camera and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System on higher-spec variants. On the other hand, the Kia Carens MPV comes with 6 airbags as standard. The MPV also gets all-wheel disc brakes, rear parking sensors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, ESC, VSM, HAC, DBC, ABS and BAS as standard on all five trims.
