Soon after the launch of the 2022 Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is now teasing the upcoming Grand Vitara hybrid SUV. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota jointly developed this SUV for the Indian market. Toyota has already released its iteration of the SUV, and now it’s time for Maruti Suzuki to do so. The new Grand Vitara will make its global debut on 20th July 2022. Suzuki Japan is responsible for the design of the new hybrid SUV. Maruti Suzuki says the new Grand Vitara will come with a host of segment-leading features.
The company recently officially opened bookings for the new SUV. Interested customers can pre-book the Grand Vitara by paying an amount of INR 11,000. To pre-book the car, customers can visit their nearest NEXA dealership or visit the NEXA website.
Maruti Suzuki recently released two teasers which give us glimpses of the Grand Vitara’s design. The first teaser reveals the taillight of the new hybrid SUV. Unlike the HyRyder’s C-shaped taillight, the Grand Vitara will use a connected taillight. We also see a similar design in the new 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift.
The more recent teaser by Maruti Suzuki shows the silhouette of the Grand Vitara. The teaser does not reveal too much, but we get to see the strong and muscular shoulder line of the SUV. From the silhouette of the Grand Vitara, it looks like the side will be similar to the HyRyder. Thus, we believe Maruti Suzuki will make major changes to the front/rear and the interiors of the Grand Vitara.
The Grand Vitara will share its platform and powertrains with the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder. Thus, like the HyRyder, Maruti Suzuki is also likely to offer it with an AWD drivetrain. Though Maruti Suzuki says it will get segment-leading features, we are unsure at this point what all will they be.
