One of India’s best-selling premium hatchbacks, the Baleno is finally getting its first significant update since its launch in India. Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to officially unveil the ‘New Age’ 2022 Baleno on 23rd February 2022 by dropping teasers. However, enthusiasts are trying their level best to get more scoops and information with regards to the upcoming hatchback. The latest leak in question is the official brochure of the 2022 Baleno that provides all key details and features.
According to the leaked brochure, Maruti Suzuki will offer the 2022 Baleno in 4 broad trims and 6 colour options. The trims in question are Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, with the Baleno’s overall range consisting of 11 variants. Meanwhile, the exterior colour options include NEXA Blue, Opulent Red, Grandeur Grey, Luxe Beige, Pearl Arctic White and Splendid Silver. The 2022 Baleno will measure 3990mm in length, 1745mm in width, 1500mm in height, and sport a 2520mm wheelbase.
The brochure also suggests that the upcoming Baleno will feature 318-litres of boot space and a 37-litre fuel tank. Along with a 4.85-metre minimum turning radius, the premium hatchback will sport 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT transmissions. The 2022 Baleno will reportedly feature a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.35 kmpl for the manual variant. On the other hand, the AMT variant of the 2022 Baleno will sport a fuel efficiency of 22.94 kmpl.
The leaked brochure also provides information regarding the specs of the upcoming Baleno along with its ‘New Age’ tech features. The base variants of the Baleno will feature 15-inch steel wheels, whereas top-spec trims will get 16-inch alloy wheels. The 2022 Baleno will weigh 955 Kg in manual guise and 960 Kg in AMT guise, making it 50 Kg heavier. Maruti Suzuki will now offer the 2022 Baleno with a single 1.2-litre, DualJet VTT, three-cylinder petrol motor.
Paired to a 12V mild-hybrid system, the engine will develop 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. For the current-gen Baleno, Maruti Suzuki offered the same engine in 2 different iterations with a CVT automatic transmission. However, the automaker has decided to discontinue the CVT on the 2022 Baleno and opt for a 5-speed AMT transmission. The leaked brochure also confirms speculations with regards to the 2022 Baleno getting 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, and cruise control.
The recent teasers of the 2022 Baleno revealed the new 9-inch, SmartPlay+ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also revealed the segment-first heads-up display, a 360-degree parking camera, connected car tech, and LED headlamps with LED DRLs. Other features of the 2022 Baleno include the automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, and new flat-bottom steering wheel. Maruti Suzuki has also improved the 2022 Baleno’s cabin experience by offering new leatherette upholstery and bolstered seats.
