Mahindra & Mahindra has given one of its most famous models, Scorpio, a complete overhaul. In the process, the brand has also added an ‘N’ suffix to its name. The new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N is aiming at the D-segments SUVs. The model earlier competed with the C-segment, but Mahindra is aiming higher this time around. In addition, Mahindra will also offer a host of variants to make sure it caters to a wider audience. The entry and lower-mid variants of the Scorpio-N will take on the C-segment rivals while the higher variants will take on the D-segment rivals. Mahindra’s Scorpio-N gets all-new looks, a host of best-in-class and first-in-segment features, and more. Mahindra dubs the 2022 Scorpio-N as the “Big Daddy of SUVs”.
Mahindra will offer the Scorpio-N in a total of 5 variants – Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8L. The Scorpio-N will come with a choice of petrol and diesel and manual and automatic gearbox options. The range starts at INR 11.99 lakh ex-showroom. for the base Z2 Petrol MT. Meanwhile, the diesel range starts at INR 12.49 lakh with the Z2 Diesel MT.
The next variant in the lineup, Z4 Petrol MT and Z4 Diesel MT retail for INR 13.49 lakh and INR 13.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Z6 variant is not available with a petrol engine. The Z6 Diesel MT costs INR 14.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Z8 Petrol MT and Z8 Diesel MT come with a sticker price of INR 16.99 lakh and INR 17.49 lakh ex-showroom. The pricing for the top-end variants starts at INR 18.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Z8L Petrol MT. Meanwhile, the Z8L Diesel MT costs INR 19.49 lakh ex-showroom.
Mahindra has not revealed the prices of the 4WD, automatics and 6-seater variants of the 2022 Scorpio-N. Furthermore, the prices mentioned above are introductory prices. These prices will be valid for the first 25,000 bookings.
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N will be the first SUV in the world to feature what3words integrated Alexa. The Scorpio-N will also feature a first-in-segment Pentalink suspension at the rear. Additionally, it will also come with a Watt’s Link. Thus, helping the SUV while cornering. At the front, it will use best-in-class double-wishbone suspension. The setup helps enables longer suspension travel, and better wheel articulation and also reduces unsprung mass. The front and rear dampers also have Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) and Multi-tuned Valve Central Land (MTV-CL).
The top-end variant of the Scorpio-N will also come with a 12-speaker Sony sound system with 3D Immersive Sound. Powering the 20.32-cm infotainment display is AdrenoX. It comes with 70+ connected car features. There is also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Mahindra will offer the Scorpio-N with both petrol and diesel engine. Furthermore, there will also be an option of a manual and an automatic gearbox. The Scorpio-N shares its petrol engine with the Thar and the XUV700. The 2-litre TGDi mStallion motor uses a turbocharger and makes 200 PS and 380 Nm of torque. As for the diesel, it uses a 2.2-litre mHawk CRDi engine. The motor makes 175 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The diesel engine will also get an option of 4×4. Higher variants of petrol and diesel get 3 drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom.
