KTM is updating its entire supersport family in the Indian market. Recently we reported the updated RC 390 followed by the RC 125 and the RC 200. Sources say that the pictures of the new-generation RC family were officially posted on the KTM India website. But they were taken down after some time. This leads us to believe that the brand is planning to launch the new-generation KTM RC bikes in India soon.
Now, it appears that sources also got hold of the brochure of the KTM RC 125 online, during KTMs website update exercise. The brochure reveals all the details on the KTM RC 125, in terms of its mechanicals and ergonomics. The leaked document also reveals the technical specifications, features and electronics employed on the 2022 KTM RC 125.
2022 KTM RC 125 – Mechanical Updates
The KTM RC 125 will come with a newly updated chassis with a new bolt-on subframe. The new framework is 1.5 kgs lighter than the predecessor and boasts improved stability and rider feel. But the major weight saver is the all-new 5-spoke lightweight alloy wheels with a bionic design and open hubs. The alloy wheels alone save 3.4 kg of unsprung rotating mass allowing the rider to flick the motorcycle into corners. The chassis rides on a WP Apex 43mm upside-down telescopic open-cartridge fork. But now the 2022 RC 125 also gets a weight-saving hollow axle and new axle clamps.
2022 KTM RC 125 – Powertrain Updates
Powering the KTM RC 125 is the tried and tested 124.7cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a DOHC valve distribution system. The engine now gets a larger airbox which has slightly improved the power and torque figures. According to sources, the engine now makes 15 Hp of power. The predecessor used to make 14.3 Hp of power. The cylinder head also features ultra-hard carbon coated cam levers for more reliability. Sources also reveal that the air cooling system has been improved for better flow that cools the engine on both the track and traffic.
2022 KTM RC 125 – Ergonomics
The KTM RC 125 not only features a simple design change but also gets aerodynamic updates using Computational Flow Dynamics. But special emphasis has been given to the ergonomics of the 2022 KTM RC 125. The motorcycle features a new fuel tank with a larger 13.7-litre capacity but a slimmer profile allowing the rider to gain grip in corners.
The seats have been redesigned and new technical material with anti-slip and wet-weather resistance properties has been used for both rider and pillion. The bike also gets a new windscreen protecting the rider from wind and weather. The clip-on handlebar is now 10mm adjustable for more upright riding and the footpegs feature new optimal geometry and now get folding foot levers.
2022 KTM RC 125 – Electronics
The KTM RC 125 will come with a new and sophisticated electronics package. The brand will be employing a full TFT dashboard capable of connecting to KTM My Ride. This will give access to turn by turn navigation, music library, incoming calls etc. The motorcycle will also come with Supermoto ABS offering more control to the rider.
